An early experiment in Ruby, prompted by my attendance at the RubyConf.new(2001) down in Florida in the fall of 2001. It seemed then and still seems now that ruby will be a very effective first language for anyone learning software development.

Although I did not make much progress with this, it did inspire some other activity in the Ruby Community, the rubyturtles project by Jim Weirich.
Ruby Turtles is a simple implementation of Turtle Graphics. This was inspired by Pete McBreen's talk on teaching OO principles using Ruby at RubyConf.new(2001). An early version of Ruby Turtles was developed at the Ruby Bird of a Feather meeting at OOPSLA.
